Bhutan Gateway Travel On your trip to Bhutan you will experience Bhutan's unmatched high-altitude beauty. Bhutan's peaceful folk, tradition-steeped way of life, and pristine environment are just about nonexistent elsewhere in the world. The government of Bhutan wants to keep the country this way and therefore has created certain guidelines for tourism--such as fixing the tour rate and requiring tourists to have a guided tour--which all tour operators must follow. Though the restrictions may seem tight, you will find that the all-inclusive prearranged package and the convenience of having a guide and driver will allow you to focus on your travels through shangri-la, while Bhutan Gateway Travel takes care of all the details.

Traveling to Bhutan Traveling to Bhutan is a unique and wonderous experience, since Bhutan is still an off-the-beaten-path destination. The government of Bhutan would like to keep Bhutan pristine, and therefore tourism is highly regulated. For instance, all tourists traveling to Bhutan must do so through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator. You cannot tour Bhutan on your own. This government rule ensures that when you travel to Bhutan, you will find yourself in a carefully preserved environment with a traditional culture.

Bhutan Festivals Festivals in the Land of the Thunder Dragon are rich and happy expressions of its ancient Buddhist culture. These festivals are held in all districts in honour of Guru Rinpoche, the saint who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan on the 8th century. Teschus are held on auspicious days and months in the Bhutanese calendar, and last up to four days in which a series of highly stylized masked dance rituals are performed. Festivals are also a big family and social occasion. People dress up in their finest clothes and most resplendent jewelry of coral and turquoise. They pack picnic lunches in their traditional bamboo baskets and stay all day at the festivals which are usually held in dzongs or at monasteries.

Client Podcast Interview The Amateur Traveler talks to Jose from Caracas Venezuela about a recent trip to Bhutan through Bhutan Gateway Travel. Learn about this remote country in the himalayas. Jose, a friend, a tour guide and a drive explored a small portion of the beautiful country on a 5 day trip. They hiked to Buddhist monasteries, watched the national sport (archery) and even saw the youngest king in the world. The flight in may be harrowing but the country itself is peaceful.
